The Family Network is a brand new, MHSA-funded, program that adds to the 30-year legacy of NAMI Contra Costa’s work to raise awareness, educate, and advocate for mental health care services for consumers and their families. Being built from the ground up, this program will develop a volunteer base that will deliver essential services to families facing a variety of challenges common to emerging mentakl health care needs. These will include:
1. Family emotional support
2. Identification of resources in the relevant region
3. Education on resource linkage and system navigation
4. Teaching families coping and self-care strategies
5. Recruitment of lived experienced volunteers to broaden resources
6. Operating Warm Line calls and processing
7. Serve as a subject matter expert if the skill or knowledge set permits

The new, centrally locates Todos a Santos Plaza location will serve as the hub and training location for the volunteers. The opportunity will expose volunteers to relevant, an ongoing, trainings that are provided regularly. Work will be in the field, throughout the entire Contra Costa County. The experience will include offered groups, social events, and volunteer recognition. We need 100 new volunteers! All age groups, ethnicities, socioeconomic statuses, faiths, spoken-languages, sexual identities, and any group encouraging diversity are not only invited, but needed to apply!
