ORGANIZATION: Living Lands & Waters

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Living Lands & Waters is a 501c3 non-profit organization which operates off of a one-of-a-kind fleet of barges, on which it hosts community-based river cleanups, and educational workshops on a floating classroom. We have been in operation for 20 years and have worked with over 100,000 volunteers to remove just under 10 million pounds of garbage from 24 rivers!

Each summer and fall we hit the Ohio River and host community based river cleanups. During our 2017 tour, LL&W made 18 stops and collected over 285,000 pounds of garbage out of the Ohio River. Coming up in July, LL&W will be making 12 stops on its way down the Ohio River.

We supply gloves, bags, life jackets, sunscreen, bug spray, hand sanitizer, and water during cleanups. We ask that volunteers dress appropriately (we recommend long pants, hats, and sunglasses. But closed toe shoes are mandatory.) We host lunch on our house barge for those who join us for the morning cleanup!
