Description

Hillview Branch Library is located in East San Jose, near the Story and King intersection. We are located right next door to Fischer Middle School and have a rambunctous, lively crew of students who frequent the library. We serve a diverse, vibrant community of all ages, many of whom are native Spanish and Vietnamese speakers. Some of our popular activities include our storytimes, ESL Conversation Club, citizenship programs, and special holiday celebrations like our Halloween party and Posadas with Santa. We have a computer area for teens, children and adults and a mixed-age area; we also have 20 laptops that the public can check out and which we also use for programs. The library has two study rooms that the public can reserve and a beautiful community room with a projector and built-in sound system that is available to rent for free, open community activities. In addition, our library features a classroom space in our Family Learning Center and a separate office for virtual programs.

Public libraries in California seek to engage the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities’ information and literacy needs. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
