Hello, thank you for your interest! We are a nonprofit hospice looking to grow our volunteer team. The schedule is flexible and accommodating for all schedule types. Volunteers are able to visit patients as little as once/month or as much as a few times a week. All hospice related training and onboarding requirements are provided by our organization. We have several volunteer positions open; book club, companion, no one dies alone, music enrichment, aromatherapy, pet therapy, massage therapy, and activity assistants. Please visit www.halcyonhospice.org for more information.
This is a great opportunity to enrich and brighten the lives of our patients and their families. It is also great experience for anyone interested in healthcare, hospice, social work, nursing, music therapy or bereavement support.
New volunteer requirements:
interview and orientation with volunteer coordinator
TB test
drug screening

Mission Statement
Halcyon Hospice is committed to a standard of excellence in providing sensitive, patient centered health care to hospice patients and families.
Description
Hospice care does not seek to cure, does not seek to hasten or prolong, but instead offers comfort and support for patients and their families. Hospice facilitates emotional and spiritual growth while physical conditions change. Hospice care is provided everywhere. The hospice team specializes in the physical, social, spiritual and emotional care of the patient and family, with professionals and volunteers available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Hospice care honors the potential for growth in this cycle of life, bringing a clinically-directed, interdisciplinary team to nurture, support, and heal during the last stages of an illness and bereavement period. Non-discriminatory, hospice offers palliative care without regard to age, gender, nationality, race, creed, sexual orientation, disability, diagnosis, availability of a primary caregiver, or ability to pay.
