Girls on the Run San Diego is currently looking for more volunteers to join our four committees. These groups of 8-12 volunteers perform all of the behind-the-scenes tasks that allow our organization to reach 500 girls in San Diego county each season. We are looking for committee members who have a background and passion for fundraising, pr/marketing, or special events.
Girls on the Run is a non-profit organization that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.
MARKETING/PR COMMITTEE
The Marketing Committee handles all external communications such as media outreach before the end-of-season 5K. The Marketing team supports other committees by creating effective communications to promote Girls on the Run of San Diego events, fundraisers and program information. The Marketing Committee also handles the social media strategy and implementation (e.g. blogs, Twitter, TV appearances). The Communications Committee meets as needed, but much of the collaborations are carried out remotely. Volunteer roles are as follows:
Reach out to new contacts or media leads in order to promote and/or cover the 5K
Brainstorm new social media initiatives that will further Girls on the Run of San Diego’s social reach
Draft press releases related to new Staff or Board, program registration/start and 5K
Write posts for GOTRSD blog and pitch article ideas to the Committee Chair
FUNDRAISING/SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE
The Fundraising Committee aims to solicit cash sponsors to support Girls on the Run of San Diego, in exchange for exposure at the 5k, fundraising events, on our website and via social media. Additionally, they look for in kind donations such as dining experiences, couple adventures, and local items for silent auctions. Fundraising volunteers liaise with other Committees (e.g. Marketing, 5K) to secure sponsorship for events throughout the year. The Fundraising Committee meets throughout the year as needed, but no more than once per month. Volunteer roles are as follows:
Source prospects to sponsor GOTRSD with either an in kind donation or cash sponsorship
Pitch new prospects for donations
Brainstorm creative new ways to engage donors and solicit donations
