ORGANIZATION: Sierra Club San Francisco Bay Chapter

Purpose of Position

To work with the chapter director, development staff and chapter executive committee to support the annual chapter fundraising program.

Responsibilities Fundraising Events Coordinator : David Brower Dinner

Work with chapter staff to raise money for the David Brower Dinner from individual, organizational, and corporate donors. This can include calling sponsors over the summer before the Dinner in the fall and enlisting members to support on this. Attending or calling into the David Brower Dinner meeting once a month is requested to update the group as to success.

House Party

Support staff in putting together fundraising house parties. This includes identifying a house and donors to sponsor the event, a unique speaker (e.g. senator or public speaker) and help create an invitation list to the event.


Fundraising Events

Develop ideas and recruit volunteers for small fundraising events (like beer nights or other outings) on a quarterly basis. Work with staff to identify opportunities and broadcast to the larger membership.

Attendance :

Attendance at monthly ExComm meetings to report out each month on fundraising efforts. The meetings are the second Monday of the month from 7-9pm. The fundraising chair only need come for (or call into) the first half hour to report out, but is welcome to stay for the entire meeting. Expectation is also that fundraising chair be present at fundraising events. Total commitment - 5-10 hours per month.

The San Francisco Bay Chapter is the local branch of the Sierra Club, America's largest and most effective grassroots environmental organization. The Bay Chapter is comprised of the nearly 40,000 Sierra Club members who live in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, and San Francisco counties.

The Bay Chapter has a rich and vibrant history of environmental leadership going back to our founding in 1924. We have played a big role in shaping the Bay Area that you know and love.

With your help, we can continue to preserve open spaces, expand parks and public lands, minimize our impact on the natural world through smart urban planning, and establish the Bay Area as the world's leader for clean renewable energy generation!
