Project Healthy Community runs a mobile food distribution that helps over 400 families supplement their food budget on the fourth Thursday of every month. The distribution takes place outside at the Northwest Activities Center (18100 Meyers Rd, Detroit, MI 48235), therefore volunteers are asked to dress for the weather, including rain.
Volunteers assist in packaging and distributing food to the over 400 families that attend each month. Each month, we distribute around 22,000 pounds of food to Detroit residents. Food is sourced from Gleaners and Forgotten Harvest, as well as our urban garden at the Northwest Activities Center.
There is parking available in the parking lot off of Curtis St and bathrooms and water fountains inside of the community center. We ask that you come into the center when you arrive to check-in before heading to back of the parking lot where the distribution itself takes place.
