The Los Angeles Music and Art School's (LAMusArt) Young Professionals Advisory Board (YPAB) is a great opportunity for young professionals to use and grow their skills in support of multi-arts education for youth. Whether your expertise is in marketing, event planning, fundraising, volunteering or other areas, the possibilities are endless. Join us in our efforts to increase access to quality arts instruction for underserved youth in the greater East Los Angeles area and engage with our surrounding communities.
We are currently recruiting for new advisory board members to join us with a start date of Fall 2018 for a two year term.
Who We're Looking For
- Young professionals dedicated to LAMusArt's mission of offering sequential, multidisciplinary, individual and group arts training in music, visual art, dance and drama to all students, regardless of age, ethnicity or artistic aptitude
- Committed to using your skills and strengths to advance LAMusArt, fundraise on behalf of the organization and build a stronger foundation of volunteers and donors

- Make a positive impact in the East Los Angeles area and surrounding communities
- Engage with other young Los Angeles professionals with a passion for the arts
- Prepare for future nonprofit Board seats, including LAMusArt
- Enjoy wonderful friendships and connections with our Circle of Friends, students, faculty and patrons
What We've Accomplished
- Since our inception, we've raised $20,000+ towards reinstating the LAMusArt tuition-free choir program
- Planned several successful fundraising events, including fall mixers and an annual winter benefit
- Led several professional development seminars for members on nonprofit essentials and fundraising best-practices
Commitment:
- Two-year commitment
- Attend at least 4 bi-monthly meetings a year
- Plan and attend LAMusArt event annually
- Assist in fundraising, including by selling tickets and promoting fundraisers
- Actively participate on a committee
Giving:
- Give/get a $250 contribution each year

Description
Founded in 1945, the Los Angeles Music and Art School (LAMusArt) offers sequential, multidiscipilinary, quality individual and group arts training during non-school hours to all students, regardless of age, ethnicity or artistic aptitude. As the only multi-discipline arts school in East Los Angeles, LAMusArt has served 100,000 children and youth since its founding through its music, art, dance, and drama programs. In a community that has one of the highest populations under ten, over half of whom reach adulthood with no form of higher education, LAMusArt plays an increasingly vital role in not only increasing access to quality arts programs, but also improving high school graduation rates and combating juvenile delinquency.
