The Arc owns and operates two residential care homes in Boise serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Eight residents can reside in each home. These homes truly have the comforts and feelings of "home." Our Celany home affords the opportunity for residents to live in individual studio apartments. Residents have access to the community kitchen and are responsible for the upkeep of their apartment. At Hettinger, each individual has his or her own bedroom, and all residents enjoy spending time together in the common areas watching television, eating meals, reading, or doing hobbies. Staff members are available at all times at both homes.

Residential volunteers become mentors and friends to residents in our homes. Volunteers are needed to lead and organize activities for residents (games, art, group exercises, puzzles, outdoor activities) at our homes. Volunteers also play a crucial role by assisting staff with day-to-day care of residents such as cooking, providing cleaning and organizing support, and adding much needed and appreciated social interaction to the lives of residents who may not receive it otherwise at home or work. Residential volunteers will need to be comfortable and respectful when conversing with residents of The Arc’s Celany and Hettinger homes.
