Mitsy Kit is expanding our reach to organizations across the country and with that expansion we have an urgent need to update and publish our online and print materials. We need someone who is willing / able to take on a project with limited supervision to provide our geographically dispersed clients with brochures and newsletters containing pictures and descriptions of our products, latest tips and techniques, and training materials. This would be a perfect opportunity for a local student with marketing or communications interest to gain real time experience in a start up organization while also supporting a social mission to help those who are blind, visually impaired, elderly, memory impaired and others who have physical and cognitive impairment.

At Mitsy Kit, we help people create memories and connect lives with accessible crafting kits. Come join our team and help us get the word out about our products and services while gaining real life experience and making a positive impact in the community!

It is important that the volunteer(s) are able to travel to our site in order to take photos and videos to use for project materials.

About Mitsy Kit Inc.

Location:

179 Hildreth Street, Lowell, MA 01850, US

Mission Statement

We help to connect lives and create memories with accessible, quality craft activities.

Description

Mitsy kit was initially developed to help the blind and visually impaired to find joy and purpose through the activity of sewing and quilting by touch, using our patented tactile sewing system and method of use. We soon realized that many others, in addition to the blind, benefited from our kits to re-engage in meaningful activities. This prompted provision of our kits and services to support a broader community including those with memory impairment, autism, aphasia, traumatic brain injury, and other seniors and children with or without physical or cognitive disability.

Organizations served include Centers for the blind and low vision, Senior Centers and Council On Aging, Nursing Homes and Assisted Living, and Dementia residential care facilities, as well as activity programs for the disabled.

Although our current products are sewing and quilting focused, we are committed in the long term to designing new kits to meet the needs of the diverse population we serve.
