Mental illnesses are common, affecting 1 in 5 adults and youth. Stigma and resulting discrimination prevent many people from seeking help and treatment. Without treatment, the outcomes are poor--dropping out of school, unemployment, criminal justice involvement, homelessness and suicide. With treatment and community support, people with mental illnesses can recover and lead full lives. The National Alliance on Mental Illness is leading the way on bringing awareness, education, support and most importantly, hope to individuals and families affected by mental illness.

Without financial support we cannot hold education classes that literally save lives. We cannot run support groups that connect people, offer hope and coping strategies, and provide valuable information and resources. We cannot perform outreach through company in-services, public presentations, mass mailings, and digital outreach. We cannot rally volunteers to join us in the magnificent work we do. Join us in our largest annual public awareness and fundraising event! It's fast, easy and we'll show you how to raise $100 and get others to do the same.

Mission Statement

NAMI SFV aims to build a close-knit community to support, advocate for, and educate anyone affected by mental illness.

Description

NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

Started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979, NAMI has blossomed into the nation's leading voice on mental health. Today, NAMI is an association of hundreds of local affiliates, state organizations and volunteers who work in your community to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need. NAMI relies on gifts and contributions to support its important work.
