Join the American River Conservancy in partnership with El Dorado County Parks for our 3 South Fork American River Clean ups!

Mother Nature has done her part in washing down natural and unnatural debris from the shores of the South Fork American River; now it’s our turn to remove the trash! Raft some exciting Class III rapids and volunteer for one (or all!) of this year’s River Cleanups. Due to the nature of the South Fork American River cleanups, we ask that only volunteers ages 12+ with previous boating experience participate.

Please make sure to wear secure shoes (old athletic sneakers or sandals with back straps-No flip flops!) as we will be periodically connecting to the shore to pick up trash. To protect from the sun and possibly poison oak exposure, we suggest wearing quick-dry, lightweight synthetic fabrics that will cover your legs and arms. Don't forget a broad hat and sunglasses to complete this safe and chic river look!

Lunch will be provided for volunteers after the events. The corridor along the South Fork American River is very diverse, both in habitat types and wildlife species. 117 different bird species use this area throughout the year and plastic and sharp metal debris can hurt them, along with the fish and other aquatic wildlife in the river! Please help us keep our rivers clean so they can be a recreational resource for many more years to come.

Note: If you and the family would like to help us keep our rivers pristine but do not have boating experience, please check out our all-age, family friendly September river clean up event, The Great Sierra River Clean Up and sign up for it today!

Thursday, July 19th (9am) - Lower South Fork (Salmon Falls/The Gorge)

Wednesday, August 22nd (3pm) - Low Water Wednesday (Coloma to Greenwood)

Please contact Taylor Faye at stewardship@arconservancy.org or (530) 621-1224 to RSVP for these cleanups or ask about details!
