Help Save Seattle's Apples and preserve the legacy of food growing in our neighborhoods and backyards. Volunteers are needed to install orchard netting over the canopy of legacy fruit trees that get harvested and shared with local community programs and food banks.
This is an innovative pest prevention strategy currently being used to prevent damage to fruit from apple maggot fly and codling moth. Volunteers will use City Fruit tools and supplies to hoist the netting over top of the trees and secure them to the trunk of each tree. Lots of helping hands needed! Humans 8 years and up welcome with guardian supervision. Volunteers should park and meet in the upper grassy parking lot.
