HUMBOLDT PARK

We offer talented individuals the opportunity to assist our enthusiastic adult students on the path to becoming citizens. Teacher assistants will reinforce instruction under the Lead Teacher’s supervision, including but not limited to sitting next to student outliers (anyone who is lower or higher than the majority of the class), circulating around class during whole group activities, and working as a group leader during small group activities. They will help our students familiarize themselves with U.S. history and civics while improving their English skills and conversational confidence in order to pass the U.S. Citizenship Exam.

Teacher Assistants are asked to volunteer on Fridays from 9:45am-12:15pm at the Monsignor Thiele Center in Humboldt Park. Interested instructors will have the opportunity to observe a class and receive free training prior to starting. Once onboarded, you will have the knowledge and resources of dedicated staff to assist you in becoming an effective Citizenship Teacher Assistant.
