Community Food Bank-Amado offers hunger relief programming to the rural communities of Amado, Tubac, Carmen, Tumacacori and Arivaca as well as other Southern Arizona residents. In addition to feeding the line we are working to bring new programming to address the root causes of hunger in our area. Helping clients to navigate the many issues contributing to their need can be the first step to self-sufficiency. A family might need financial help to get through a tough time, job services to restore lost income, or access to behavioral health services. Perhaps literacy education to qualify for a better position or enroll in higher education institutions will make that difference. This position will have direct client interaction at many levels. These interactions are incredibly rewarding for both the intern and client. Imagine the gratitude of a young mother who is working 2 jobs to support her 3 children when you are able to offer concrete assistance with overdue rent or utility bills, refer her to various programs focused on parenting, education and job skills. Or maybe read important correspondence for an elderly client with low vision or low literacy. Help us create opportunities for learning onsite at the food bank, a welcoming and familiar space for our constituencies.
This position offers a unique opportunity to assist in the design and implementation of new programs. It offers opportunities to improve organizational skills, manage others (we have a volunteer corps of 50+) and offer your best self to others.
