ORGANIZATION: Delray Beach Public Library Association, Inc.

Were you a grade school spelling bee champ? Do you like word games like Scrabble and crossword puzzles? Do you ever read the dictionary for fun?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, we want you! Our team of teens is participating in the Delray city-wide Spellebration spelling bee on July 26 and they need coaches to help them with the more than 300 words on the list. You might learn some new words, too!

Practice sessions are 2:30 to 4 pm on Wednesdays, June 13 through July 18 (fives sessions) with the big event at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 26 at Delray Beach Public Library.

Join us for a spelling good time!

Description

The Ladies Improvement Association founded the Delray Beach Public Library in 1913. In 1938 the Delray Beach Public Library Association became a not-for-profit corporation to provide a public library in Delray Beach. Since 1950, our patrons have received library service through a successful public/private partnership between the City of Delray Beach and the Library Association. The City of Delray Beach has provided a large percentage of the annual operating budget and the Library Association has raised capital funds.

Delray Beach Public Library exists to enrich the lives of the individuals of Delray Beach’s diverse communities by creating and sustaining superior public library services through responsive staff, dynamic collections, appropriate technology and access to global information.
