We're offering an informational session. This is an opportunity for members of the community to learn how they can become volunteer panel members in the Department's case review process which guides decisions made on behalf of children in DCF custody to ensure necessary services are being provided and to monitor progress toward establishing a permanent living situation for the child.

About Department of Children and Families
Location:
600 Washington St. (AND ALL DCF OFFICES STATEWIDE), 6th Floor, Boston, MA 02111, US
Mission Statement
Our Mission: DCF strives to protect children from abuse and neglect and, in partnership with families and communities, ensure children are able to grow and thrive in a safe and nurturing environment. Our Vision: All children have the right to grow up in a nurturing home, free from abuse and neglect, with access to food, shelter, clothing, health care and education. DCF works toward establishing the safety, permanency and well-being of the Commonwealth's children by: stabilizing and preserving families; providing quality temporary alternative care when necessary, safely reunifying families; and when necessary and appropriate, creating new families through kinship, guardianship or adoption.
Description
Please Note: This volunteer opportunity is not limited to Boston, as these reviews take place across the Commonwealth in all DCF Area Offices.
For a few hours of your time each month, you can participate on a panel that helps plan for the future of children in DCF care.
There are over 8,000 children who are in the care and/or custody of DCF. We are seeking volunteers to help us in making decisions about their futures.
The Volunteer Case Review Program offers a unique opportunity for community members to work alongside DCF to make a difference in the lives of children and families.
Volunteers of the Case Review Program participate as members of a three-member case review panel who review the cases of children who have been placed in foster homes or group homes.
