Project Healthy Community runs a food distribution the fourth Thursday of every month. We are currently seeking volunteers to help us sign clients in to an online pantry database as they come to pick up food. Data entry is quite simple and we can train you once you arrive. For returning clients, you need only to look them up by their name in out database and mark them as having come to pick up food. For new clients, we must create a profile in the system. This involves asking clients a few questions about their contact information, dietary concerns, and education and employment status.
During warmer months, the distribution takes place at the Northwest Activities Center (18100 Meyers Rd.). When colder weather comes, the pantry is moved to an indoor location. Each month, we distribute around 22,000 lbs of food to around 400 families. Food is sourced from Gleaners and Forgotten Harvest, as well as our urban garden at the Northwest Activities Center.
Volunteers are also needed to help distribute goods to the clients. If you would prefer to distribute food rather than enter clients’ information, let us know when responding to this ad.
