* IN ORDER TO BE REGISTERED AS A VOLUNTEER FOR THIS EVENT YOU MUST EMAIL MARY.OWENS@RALEIGHNC.GOV*

Join PRCR and Dix Park staff at Pop-PupAlooza, a pop-up dog park at Dix Park! During this pop up event, dogs will be allowed off leash while at our specially crafted dog park. There will be plenty of fun for dogs and their owners! The dog park features four acres for dogs to roam, and a small dog area, too! Food trucks will be available for the humans as well.

Volunteer Duties: Volunteers will be helping to monitor the gates so that no pups escape as people enter and leave. Volunteers will also be asked to help hand out poop bags and park information, and refill water bowls. Volunteers will also help pick up litter and tennis balls so the dogs have a safe place to play and plenty of toys.

Volunteer Shifts: There are two volunteer shifts to choose from when registering. They are 11:30 am - 3:15 pm and 2:45 pm - 6:30 pm.

Volunteer Requirements: Volunteers must be 18 years or older to volunteer. All volunteers will have to sign a volunteer release and indemnity form that will be emailed to them by the event coordinator. Volunteers must be comfortable around dogs of all sizes and large crowds.

Work Environment: This is an outside event and will be in the heart of summer. It will be hot, sunny, and volunteers will be on their feet for the entire volunteer shift. It is in a field so there is the chance for uneven ground. This event has the possibility of loud noises and large crowds of people and dogs. Porta johns will be available on site.

Volunteers should wear/bring: Please wear loose comfortable clothing that can get dirty and sturdy closed-toed shoes such as sneakers. We also recommend sun screen, hat and sunglasses. Please bring plenty of water and snacks as well. Remember to dress for the weather.

Parking/Meeting Location: Event coordinator will send additional details about meeting location to all registered volunteers.

Inclement Weather Plan: This project will occur rain or shine. If inclement weather, such as thunder/lightening, tornado, heavy rains, does occur and staff deem that work conditions are not safe, the event coordinator will communicate via email to all registered volunteers if the project has been postponed.

**Registration as a volunteer is first come, first serve basis. Please email mary.owens@raleighnc.gov to be sent the link to register.**

Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
