NORTHERN OCEAN HABITAT FOR HUMANITY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Art Department

• responsible for taking all artwork off truck
• pricing (utilizing computer price look-up, if necessary)
• arranging art in attractive, safe manner
• assist in pricing other collectibles/household items
• assist customers with a pleasant, helpful attitude
• expertise in art/collectibles a plus

Customer Service

• learn pricing system and price items as them come off truck
• assist customers with pleasant, helpful attitude
• assist cashiers in making sure 'sold’ stickers are affixed to sold items
• light housekeeping duties

Truck Assistant (must be able to lift heavy furniture)

• on-site pick up of in-kind donations
• delivery of sold items
• responsible for care of delivered/picked-up items
• unload truck upon return to store

Warehouse Support (must be able to lift 50 lbs)

• assist in moving furniture from trucks to warehouse
• arranging furniture in warehouse
• assuring 'sold’ items are moved to appropriate area

Handyman

• ability to do minor repairs to furniture and facility
• ability to hang mirrors, pictures and light fixtures
• assist with pricing of construction items
• spot cleaning furniture as necessary

Cashier

• cashier duties and cash controls
• answer telephones
• learn pricing system
• assisting customers with pleasant, helpful attitude
• make sure 'sold’ stickers are affixed to sold items

Construction

We can use help on one of our construction sites including our Neighborhood Revitalization Program working on outdoor repairs and landscaping for our local group homes. A typical construction day is 9:00 - 3:00 pm, Construction skills are appreciated but NOT required, all we require is a smile, willingness to learn and a desire to help eradicate poverty housing in Northern Ocean County.

• assist with our Neighborhood Revitalization Program (outdoor)

Committees/Other

Outreach/Advocacy

• participate in table events to inform community of opportunities and resources offered by Habitat
• participate in speaking engagements
• assist in identifying communities that would benefit from Habitat
• Assist in continued development of resource manual
• become a member of the community outreach committee

Faith Relations

• seeks to keep in touch with all various places of worship in the affiliate’s area
• keep congregations informed about Habitat happenings
• seek support for our mission

• plans and executes fundraising events throughout the calendar year
• goal is to raise funds to carry out mission work

Food Fellowship Program

• build relationships with local eateries to provide food and beverage donations for events, construction, volunteers, support committees, etc.
• must be team oriented, self-motivated, well organized, and detail oriented. Must be able to work with team members to keep organizational standards intact and maintained.
