BASTA is seeking bilingual volunteers who are passionate about renter justice to provide interpretation during tenant leader meetings at properties where BASTA is supporting tenant associations. Volunteers will be interpreting for small groups of tenant leaders to enable their participation in decision-making by and leadership of the tenant association.
We are looking for volunteers who are fluent in English and one or more of the following languages: Arabic, Burmese, Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Mandarin, Spanish, Vietnamese. Tenant leader meetings take place on weekday evenings throughout the city - schedules and locations will vary based on our changing needs. Volunteer commitments can be one-time or ongoing, but all volunteers must be able to commit to a 2 hour timeframe when they volunteer. Volunteers may choose to use consecutive or simultaneous interpretation, whichever mode they are most comfortable with. All necessary equipment will be provided.
