Ronald McDonald House provides a 'home away from home’ for families of hospitalized children. The House allows families to eat, sleep, and find the emotional support they need - just blocks from the hospital where their child is being treated. Scavenger hunts are a fun activity focused on donating new and unused items from our Wish List, which help defray the cost of supplies used everyday in our House or to provide an "extra" for a family while they are away from home.
1. What is a Scavenger Hunt?
- A team building and volunteer experience for groups
- A donation of essential supplies for families staying at Ronald McDonald House
- RMHC can send a representative to provide a presentation at your starting location
- Tours of the House and meeting space are available for groups of 40 or less
- Each team will be given a clue sheet and will search for needed items at local stores within a 5 mile radius of the House
- At the end of the allotted time, all teams deliver items directly to the Ronald McDonald House, to determine the winner, where there is an opportunity for a photo
- Scores can be tabulated to announce a winning team
- Good for groups of 10-100 participants
- Scavenger hunts can be customized to fit your schedule, typically between 1-3 hours
- There is a suggested donation amount of $100-$200 per participating team

Description
RMHC Dayton is a home-away-from-home for families of critically ill or injured, hospitalized children. We exist to serve and sustain families when serious illness or injury strike the most cherished part of their lives, their children.
The House provides a safe and comforting temporary residence near local hospitals so families can stay together. The House is a place where they can eat a home-cooked meal, take a shower, do laundry, or rest in their private guest room; and all of these essential amenities are available just minutes away from their child's bedside.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room is a place of respite right there within the hospital, where families with in-patient children can grab a cup of coffee, shower, do laundry, eat and rest just steps away from their child's bedside. Currently, RMHC Dayton has one Family Room program within Dayton Children's Hospital.
Annually, the Ronald McDonald House of the Miami Valley serves families from approximately 30 Ohio counties, 10 other states, and occasionally other countries. We have been serving families in our region since 1980. We partner with all local hospitals that serve pediatric patients. The Ronald McDonald House serves an average of 500 families a year. In 2015, we served 356 families. In 2016, with the opening of the new Ronald McDonald Family Room, we have served 2,900 families.
The average stay for House guests is 12 nights. A family's stay can range anywhere from one night to 90 days. There is no maximum stay.
