ORGANIZATION: Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon

Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon will host one, full-year AmeriCorps VISTA member through Mercy Corps Northwest. This position will support our SNAP outreach work including supporting outreach and application assistance in community-college settings, partnership coordination and facilitation, developing and providing SNAP trainings, presentations, and materials, and supporting efforts to lower barriers to SNAP access. The start date for this position will be August 30, 2018 and the VISTA term will last through late August 2019.

Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon works to end hunger before it begins by addressing its root causes. We believe hunger is an income issue. Therefore our goal is to build economic stability, ensuring that all Oregonians have sufficient means and ready access to nutritious, quality food. Guided by our 5- year plan "Ending - Hunger Before it Begins: Oregon’s Call to Action," our goals are to:

  • Increase economic stability for people, communities, and the state.

  • Cultivate a strong regional food system in Oregon.

  • Improve the food assistance safety net.
