ORGANIZATION: Lulu's Rescue

  • 2 people are interested

Lulu's Rescue is currently looking for Team Leaders to help us with Transport. We have a weekly Saturday transport of anywhere from 3-10 dogs that we bring up from high kill shelters in the Carolinas. We are looking for highly motivated volunteers to help organize and run the transports. This includes reviewing vetting records, speaking with all fosters and adopters and making sure foster families are equipped with all necessary items for their foster dog. Transport takes place at the St. Martins Church in New Hope in the back parking lot. The hours are typically in the morning anywhere from 8-10am. The team leader would have a group of volunteers to assist and would delegate tasks to as needed. Training is provided. If you or someone you know are interested in helping us save these dogs lives please email volunteer@lulusrescue.org

About Lulu's Rescue

Location:

Mission Statement

Lulu’s Rescue is an all-volunteer companion animal rescue group comprised of dedicated members with over 30 collective years in rescue, foster, and adoption placement. We are an all-breed inclusive rescue advocating on behalf of all animals and are officially a public charity having obtained our 501c3 non-profit status.

Our mission is to rescue healthy, loving animals that are on death row, in our community shelters, and give them a second chance at life. We are committed to finding the best homes, for these amazing creatures, ones in which they can flourish and live out their natural lives surrounded by loving care and kindness.

Our policy is not first come first served but rather which family would be the best possible match for our furry friends in need. We all believe very deeply in the words of Matthew Scully:

"Animals are more than ever a test of our character, of mankind’s capacity for empathy and for decent, honorable conduct and faithful stewardship. We are called to treat them with kindness, not because they have rights, power or a claim to equality, but in a sense, because they don’t. They all stand unequal and powerless before us."

Description

Lulu’s Rescue is a 100% volunteer organization. We depend upon the contributions of all volunteers to do our life saving work. No contribution is too small, no skill without value. Have you considered volunteering for Lulu’s but didn’t know what you could contribute? Here are just some ways volunteers help Lulu’s:

Fostering:

Taking a dog into your home, this costs you nothing out of your pocket but is one of the biggest gifts you can give.

Writing:

Website, Facebook, flyers content.

Graphic Design:

Create posters of adoptable pets, upcoming events, or outreach for volunteers.

Website Design:

We have a wonderful designer, we would love a back up/extra set of hands to keep material fresh and updated.

Website Content:

Keeping the website current is critical - for so many people it will be their first visit and lasting impression of Lulu’s.

Fundraising:

Do you have ideas on how to raise money? Funds go to pulling dogs to safety, vetting each dog to be sure they are 100% healthy, getting them into foster care, and participating in community events.

Legwork and Networking:

The world of rescue relies on networks of people around the country. Do you have connections? Are you good at finding groups and making connections? Can you compose a compelling tweet, text or Facebook entry? Help us effectively and consistently connect in different ways.

Advocacy and Education:

While a big part of what Lulu’s does is rescue individual dogs, we know that educating the public (adults and children), our law makers and communities about how to care for their pets, the importance of spaying and neutering and that killing healthy, adoptable dogs is not the answer. Do you like to speak to groups trying to establish outreach programs? Do you write to your congressperson and let them know how you feel and what you expect as a constituent?

Record Keeping:

Maintaining our network of adopters, applicants, and events will help us to reach more people and learn from our experiences.

These are just some ideas on how you can make a difference with Lulu’s. Perhaps you have others? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
