This is an Exploring Careers class who will be hosting a business plan expo competition at Yonkers Middle High School.

These are students have taken NFTE’s Exploring Careers course and completed a group business plan and PowerPoint pitch deck. Now, groups have reached their final stage of the class and are about to compete in their own Business Plan Expo competition.

That’s where you come in! Each student group is prepared to present their PowerPoint slides and will have about 3 minutes to do so. After each presentation, there will be 2-3 minutes for Q+A with the judges. You will also be given a couple minutes to fill out a judge rubric after you watch each group present. A first place prize will be awarded to the top performing student group.

Feel free to reach out with any questions.

About Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE)

Mission Statement

The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship's mission is to provide programs that inspire young people from low-income communities to stay in school, to recognize business opportunities and to plan for successful futures.

Description

Founded in New York City in 1987 by Steve Mariotti, a former entrepreneur turned high school math teacher in the South Bronx, NFTE began as a program to prevent dropouts and improve academic performance among students who were at risk of failing or quitting school.

Combining his business background with his desire to teach at-risk students, Steve discovered that when young people from low-income communities are given the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship, their innate "street smarts" can easily develop into "academic smarts" and "business smarts." Through entrepreneurship, young people discover that what they are learning in the classroom is relevant to the real world.

To date, NFTE has worked with nearly 500,000 young people from low-income communities in programs across the U.S. and around the world.
