ORGANIZATION: Maternity Care Coalition

  • 7 people are interested

Maternity Care Coalition West has a storage area in the basement that we use to store donations of children's items such as clothes, baby gear, and toys. We primarily use this space to provide supplies to the community near our space that we otherwise cannot provide services too because of the eligibility requirements of our programs (focusing on high-risk pregnancy, substance use, and mental health). Recently, the space has become so disorganized we aren't sure what we have to offer to the community anymore. We could really use some help organizing the space in a way that is easy to maintain and doing some cataloging of the inventory.

The hours and start date for this volunteer opportunity are flexible. This organization project is anticipated to take 1-3 days. Opportunities for long-term volunteering after the completion of this project are available.

Mission Statement

Maternity Care Coalition's (MCC) mission is to improve maternal and child health and well being through the collaborative efforts of individuals, families, providers, and communities in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Description

MCC works to reduce infant mortality and improve maternal and child health and well being through outreach to high-risk communities to identify, connect with and assist pregnant women and families with prenatal, well baby, and other needed services. MCC's signature program, the MOMobile, is a community-based outreach and family support program. The MOMobile uses mobile outreach vans (MOM-mobiles) and door-to-door canvassing to help pregnant women in neighborhoods known to have high rates of infant mortality, teenage pregnancy, poverty, child abuse, and neglect, or limited knowledge of community resources and children's health insurance programs.
