Are you ready to take your volunteer experience to the next level? Animal Aid is looking for two individuals to assist with our dog foster and adoption program. These individuals will 1) assist with email and phone inquiries regarding dog fostering and dog adoptions, 2) assist with processing dog foster applications and dog adoption applications, 3) assist with home visits for new fosters and potential adopters, 4) remain up-to-date on status on all foster dogs (behavior, training, etc.) and serve as backup coordinators for the primary program coordinators, and 5) participate in the dog intake process as part of the dog foster and adoption team. This position works directly with the Dog Foster Coordinator and Dog Adoption Coordinator, in addition to meetings and communications with the Animal Care Manager and Director of Operations.

Time commitment : 2-10 hours per week, starting at the lower end and increasing with time

Skills:

  • Dog-savvy. Has experience with dogs of different sizes/temperaments/needs. Professional dog training experience a plus.
  • Flexible schedule. Available to field emails and calls at a variety of times. Available to attend monthly meetings with the Dog Foster & Adoption Team.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Maintains professionalism, compassion, and clear communication at all times.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Enjoys working with a wide variety of people and personality types.
  • Strong time management skills. Prompt with outreach and replies, as well as scheduling and maintaining appointments.
  • Desire to learn and grow as part of a team.
  • Passion for animal welfare. Any past animal rescue experience a plus.
