YMCA Texas Youth and Government is a civics education program looking for volunteers with an interest in policy and youth leadership. Volunteers will use our provided rubric and score sheet to evaluate students’ performances as representatives and senators in our mock legislative committees. Students will debate bills they themselves have written on a variety of issues like education, infrastructure, and criminal justice.
We need volunteers for the Friday morning of our State Conference, January 25. Volunteer shifts will take place in conference rooms at the Renaissance Hotel Arboretum. We will ask volunteers to complete a one-hour webinar training to get familiar with our scoring system before the State Conference. To sign up to volunteer, please fill out our volunteer form at https://www.tfaforms.com/4687778 and select "Legislative" as your Section Preference. Thank you!
