Volunteers are still the Heart of Hospice.
Hospice began as a volunteer movement and volunteers are still very much at the heart of what we do. Volunteers can do so much to support a person or family receiving hospice care:
- Music or art at the bedside
- Regular companionship visits
- Engagement and memory stimulation
- Documenting patient memories and life stories for family
- Sitting with a home patient while family takes a break
- Visits with patients in care centers
- Yard care
- Routine household chores
- Errands
- And more...
