The Big Splash at the 1883 Water Works is a free event that celebrates the first delivery of water to the City of Fort Collins in June of 1883. Volunteers at the event will assist organizers with water activities, games, contests, vintage dress-up and more.
Poudre Fire Authority fire trucks will be on display and fire fighters will conduct water spray demonstrations. Participants will assist with an old-fashioned fire brigade. The City of Fort Collins Water Utilities Department will display large equipment, have hands-on learning opportunities, and more. Live music, a blacksmith, soap maker, and basket weaver will also entertain guests.
Volunteer shifts of 2-4 hours are available. No manual labor.

Description
The Poudre Landmarks Foundation preserves and manages the 1879 Avery House and the 1883 Water Works in Fort Collins, Colorado. But that's not all! We provide year-round community-based activities like our Historic Homes Tour in old town Fort Collins or our Old-Fashioned 4th of July celebration at the Avery House. In fact, last year our 200 volunteers welcomed over 13,000 visitors.
