Special Olympics Florida is hosting the first annual 2018 Pinellas Stand-Up Paddle Invitational at Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs on Saturday, June 23rd. Athletes from across the state will be competing in this tournament and we rely on volunteers to make this event possible.

Volunteers will be assisting with the following duties:

  • Help with Check-in
  • Assisting as Timers
  • Serve as Results Runners
  • Assist with Meals and logistics
  • and Assist with Awards.

Volunteers can sign up for a morning or afternoon shift, or stay all day to assist with the event. Lunch and t-shirts will be provided.

Volunteers will receive:

  • A FREE Special Olympics White T-Shirt
  • FREE Lunch
  • A record of community service hours

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Complete a Class B Volunteer Form
  • Bring a photo ID to the event
  • Volunteers under 15 MUST be accompanied by an adult

SPECIAL OLYMPICS MISSION STATEMENT (Official Special Olympics Sports Rules - Section A) The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for persons eight years of age and older with intellectual disabilities, who wish to participate, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

The ultimate goal of Special Olympics is to help persons with intellectual disabilities participate as productive and respected members of society at large, by offering them a fair opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills and talents through sports training and competition, and by increasing the public's awareness of their capabilities and needs.
