At a Generation Hope Group Event

We are in need of volunteers for Generation Hope's annual "Pep Rally Under the Stars" Gala and Hope Conference. Our gala is the principal fundraising event for Generation Hope, and will be taking place on Friday, May 31, 2019, at the Washington Hilton Hotel. The Hope Conference will be the following day on Saturday, June 1st at the same venue. The Gala is attended by 650 guests who include leading figures from the political, media, entertainment, education, and business worlds -- all joined together to celebrate higher education and our vital work and mission.

We're looking for volunteers to assist in a variety of capacities, such as helping with registration, assisting with the silent auction, welcoming guests as they arrive, childcare, etc. Your volunteer role is crucial to making the event a success -- we couldn't do it without you! Please sign up below. If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact Michelle at Michelle@supportgenerationhope.org.

**PLEASE NOTE:

SIGNING UP FOR MORE THAN ONE SHIFT: You may sign up for more than one shift but the shifts cannot be in the same time frame. For example, you can select "First Shift #1: 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM" and then "Second Shift #8: 8:00 PM to 11:30 PM" because they are in different time frames. You cannot select "First Shift #1: 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM" and "First Shift #2: 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM" because they are in the same time frame.

SIGNING UP OTHER PEOPLE: You may sign up other people who are planning to volunteer with you (e.g. friends, family, coworkers). If that is your plan, please select "yes" for "I am registering for multiple people" AND provide their names and email addresses. Additionally, please indicate which shifts everyone in your party will be completing. For example, if you'd like to register yourself and someone else as a Greeter, please click on "First Shift #1" AND "First Shift #2" under "Greeters.

ATTIRE FOR SILENT AUCTION AND GREETERS: If you volunteer to work the silent auction table or as Greeter please be sure to wear all black professional attire. I.e. closed toe shoes, black blouse, and black pants.

Please note, we are not able to provide parking. There are plenty of local parking garages and the hotel is accessible from the metro.

About Generation Hope

Location:

1401 Okie Street NE, Suite 300, WASHINGTON, DC 20002, US

Mission Statement

Generation Hope is a nonprofit organization that matches sponsors with teen parents who are attending college and are in need of financial and emotional support. Based on the belief that education is vital to success, its purposes are to give young parents and their children a support system as they pursue academic excellence, to provide a direct-support experience for sponsoring organizations and individuals, and to create a new generation of ambitious and successful families.

Description

This one-of-a-kind program, started by a former teen mother who wanted to see more teen parents beat the odds, matches teen parents (Scholars) who are attending college in the Washington, D.C. metro area with individuals, organizations, and local businesses (Sponsors) to participate in a mentoring relationship that includes emotional and financial support. This is a multi-year commitment, lasting until the Scholar receives their college degree.

We believe education is the best promise for teen parents to achieve stable and successful futures and consistent financial and emotional support increases the likelihood that they will graduate. When teen mothers and fathers earn college degrees, their children are less likely to live in poverty, and our communities are strengthened.
