About B-STEM Project:

B-STEM Project is a startup non-profit organization providing free programs and workshops to underserved young girls and boys, allowing them to (1) learn about STEM fields in a fun, introductory environment and (2) apply their learnings through custom projects across a variety of business industries including Entertainment, Advertising, Fashion, Information Technology, Agriculture, and Life Sciences.


At B~STEM(tm), knowledge and skills are reinforced through practice, coaching, and mentoring by industry experts. Utilizing real-life scenarios, collaboration and project based learning, we foster diverse transferable skills in emerging talent across the nation.


The Position:

Are you passionate about social media? Love engaging with fans, and reaching out to engage new audiences? Looking for professional development and a way to give back to the community? This may be the right position for you!


This position will allow you to directly manage and build B-STEM’s social media presence, voice, and aesthetic, and work with our board of directors and founder to amplify our programming. You will be able to reach out to other brands you love to build authentic partnerships, and engage with underserved students in LA, Chicago, NYC, Atlanta, and more.


Required:

  • Experience in social media management across all platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Twitter) and knowledge of what "works" natively on each platform.
  • Desire to work end to end on planning, designing, and posting across social platforms
  • 4-6 hour/week commitment (majority remote + in-person opportunity if desired in LA)
  • Passion for educating underserved youth and empowering their success
  • Self starter, motivated learner, and able to execute independently

Preferred:

  • Leadership: ability and desire to hire and grow an intern or volunteer
  • Community Management: prior experience in building and growing a brand community
  • Growth Marketing: ability to research, identify, pitch, and execute on partnership opportunities for growth across channels
  • Graphic Design Expertise: experience in Adobe suite or other tools (desktop or mobile) for designing social posts and marketing flyers (e.g. Canva)
  • Social Media Management Tools : experience in Hootesuite or similar platform

Description

B~STEM Project’s primary focus is to provide young girls and women opportunities to gain in depth insight and understanding into the business of STEM disciplines across industries. We also offer an extension of holistic programming for both boys and girls that takes a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to STEM instruction.

BSTEM allows students to engage, learn and grow on both an academic and personal level. Our programs offer exposure into a variety of industries from entertainment, advertising and fashion to robotics, agriculture and life sciences. We simulate real life scenarios with a curriculum that’s project driven. The knowledge and skills acquired are reinforced through practice, coaching and mentoring by industry specific professionals.
