ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross of Idaho and Montana

Diversity Committee Project Team Volunteers needed

At the American Red Cross, our clients, volunteers, employees, donors and suppliers represent a wide array of cultures, ethnic backgrounds, ages, lifestyles, beliefs and philosophies. It is critical that we embrace the rich diversity around us.

The American Red Cross of Greater ID and MT seeks to enhance the sensitivity and competence of our workforce working with the similarities and differences of individuals, groups and communities. Our vision is to cultivate a culturally competent and inclusive American Red Cross, where the make-up of our volunteers, employees and donors increasingly reflects the clients and communities we serve and where our products and services are delivered in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner.

Working with Professor Alex Erolin from the College of Idaho, the Diversity Committee is developing and implementing diversity & integration (D&I) program for American Red Cross Greater Idaho & Montana.

We are looking for 5-6 Volunteers across ID and MT to form a project team that will be trained and led by Professor Erolin starting in June 2018. This is a great professional development opportunity to learn and strengthen group interviewing, focus group, data and financial analysis skills.

We are seeking individuals who are open minded, nonjudgmental, interested and have an aptitude for working with data in excel. We are willing to provide training but volunteers must have computer and excel skills and a somewhat flexible schedule as well as available to work July and August (typically our busy disaster season).

The project team will

  • Assist in planning the project
  • Conduct 8-10 focus groups and group interviews with staff, volunteers, Board members and clients.
  • Analyze data
  • Present findings to the Diversity Committee and other audiences
