William Brinton 1704 House

The Brinton 1704 House Museum is looking for volunteers to help develop public and cultural programs, work with our archives, collections, and genealogical database, and plan exciting community outreach projects. These opportunities are perfect for anyone interested in historic homes and preservation, archaeology, gardening, public speaking, museums, history, or library sciences. All levels of experience are welcome!

Students who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in museum studies, history, and other related fields are also welcome! We provide on-site training and guidance, and you will have the opportunity to work on projects that fit your area of interest.

The Brinton 1704 House Museum is a restored Quaker home located in Delaware County near West Chester, Pennsylvania, and is a designated National Historic Landmark. The 1704 House is operated as a historic museum and is open for public tours on Saturdays and Sundays from May 1 to October 31.

The House was built in 1704 in Pennsylvania Colony by William Brinton, Jr., who moved to the American Colonies in 1684 with his parents to escape religious persecution of Quakers in England. Today, his descendants own and operate the house museum, and have dedicated the site to expanding our understanding of the local community and history.
