ABOUT ENVENTU
East of the river, neighborhoods display a poverty rate that is three-times higher than the rest of Washington, D.C. Research shows that where poverty exists, opportunities for higher education are scarce and the pipeline to prison is reinforced. EnventU addresses these social issues, opens alternative pathways of higher education, and advances national efforts to close the workforce skills gap through the untapped talent of young people.

EnventU engages and directs young people towards this vibrant career path, builds student’s leadership skills, increases self-confidence and provide a motivational boost that carries over into other aspects of their academic and personal lives ultimately cultivating the next generation of young professionals.

About ENVENTU CORP

Location:

1725 I ST NW, STE 300, WASHINGTON, DC 20006, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to create a pipeline to professions for at-risk youth through the event industry. Via a robust blended-learning experience, inclusive of classroom curriculum, "real-world" planning, volunteer events, and internships, we develop young professionals and make certain our students are gaining practical knowledge that is relevant and transferable to the industry.

Description

EnventU is designed as an (11) month program where students are given the opportunity to learn and work alongside event professionals ultimately planning and producing real-life events. Convening weekly, participants are exposed to interactive curriculum, group work, and career exploration that takes a holistic approach to address their distinct personal and professional needs.

The foundation of our program lies within the teachings of the (7) career tracks that collectively makeup the main components of any major event.

  1. Event Production
  2. Catering
  3. Décor
  4. Audio/Visual
  5. Floral Design
  6. Lighting Production
  7. Stationery/Signage

By way of the tracks, students receive an inside look at meetings, trade shows, conferences, expos, and other special events through guest speakers, event production experiences, "place of business" field trips, paid flexible part-time jobs, and other workforce development experiences.
