Welcome to Tutoria!

TO BE A VOLUNTEER APPLY DIRECTLY HERE (copy and paste https://tutoria.io/en/ to browser)

Tutoria connects people in need with volunteer tutors via our online platform. Volunteers and clients sign up at Tutoria website (click the link above). They select their interests (English tutoring, US Citizenship, or legal aid) and availability. They then connect with one another via direct message.

Why Tutoria? There is a strong demand from immigrants for education and legal services around the world. There is also a large supply of volunteers offering to teach such classes. The bottleneck is that connecting immigrants and volunteers is done manually by non-profit staff, who do not have the capacity to provide matching/scheduling services. As a volunteer, you will not only create a social impact by helping us meet this need; you will benefit personally by working closely with a passionate group of volunteer professionals, including Tutoria’s leadership.

Here are our current openings:

  • English - Practice conversational and/or written English with clients
  • Citizenship - Prepare clients for the US Citizenship Exam, per the USCIS requirements: https://www.uscis.gov/citizenship/learners/study-test
  • Legal Aid - Refer those in need to legal aid organizations that can help them

Tutoria welcomes all TEFL student volunteers and non-student volunteers PROFICIENT in English to apply with us. We are also in need of BILINGUAL Volunteers (e.g Spanish speakers, etc.) who are willing and eager to teach our ESL clients and make a difference in their lives.

Please note that due to visa restrictions, Tutoria cannot accept applicants who

  • Want to use Tutoria volunteering to fulfill OPT requirements for F1 or M1 visas; and
  • Are on a 24-month STEM OPT extensions

However, we do accept student volunteers who are STEM and Non STEM on a 12-month post-completion OPT. Candidates will be required to submit evidence from their institution verifying their OPT status.
