Starting in June, flex your leadership skills by becoming a volunteer Summer Skillz Youth Coach!

Similar to what's offered during the school year, this is a free tutoring service providing local youth in grades K through 8th grade with assistance in topics like reading, writing and math in ways that can help kids keep their minds sharp over the summer.

The Edenvale Library is looking for experienced, dedicated community members to help coordinate this activity. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone interested in supporting local youth and education.

Qualifications

  • Age 13+
  • High degree of initiative and creativity
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Ability to develop and work with a team
  • Excellent oral communication and written skills

Commitment

  • 2 month commitment, at least 1 hour per week.
  • Must be able to work weekly shifts between June 1st & August 16th

Description

Public libraries in California seek to engage the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. Libraries offer a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
