About Code for fun:

Code for fun is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, located in the San Francisco Bay Area, committed to give the opportunity to all students to study computer science at an early age. We offer after school programs, camps, in school instruction and teachers training onsite and online. As a leader in computer science education for young learners, our programs are designed for all students, bridging gender and racial gaps, and encouraging them to consider academic and career paths in the engineering field.

Code for fun envisions a future where all students grades K­-12, develop creative skills through access to innovative computer science education. Come and join us to help grow our grant writing strategy and be a part of our non-profit organization to impact more students to Computer Science.

Role and responsibilities:

We are looking for a grant writer to:

  • Determine proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposal (RFPs)
  • Coordinate with the Business Development team to devise a grant strategy
  • Prepare proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals from the Executive Director and Business Development Manager
  • Submit grant application and follow up on status
  • Develop proposal by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation
  • Redact grant impact reports to update the sponsors/grantors

  • Problem solver
  • Working in funding opportunities for education a plus
  • Curious and energetic about facts finding to highlight the value of our mission
  • Coordination

  • Market knowledge
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a grant writer or a related field with demonstrated success
  • Experience and proficiency with fundraising research and submission strategies.
  • Experience in writing successful government grants, including local, state, and federal grants preferred.
  • Experience with corporate philanthropy, private foundations, and grant making preferred.

Scheduling is very flexible and lots of our projects can be done virtually.

Description

We expose students from Kindergarten to High-School to coding in an interactive way. We offer after school programs and camps all over the San Francisco Bay Area.

Students get familiar with computer programming concepts, build their own game, and continue updating their work later on.
