Community Mediation Services (CMS) in Anderson County is seeking volunteer mediators to join our team. We will conduct a comprehensive training during September focusing on our Visitation Program which facilitates parenting plans for separating, unmarried parents. In our community, many low-income parents face co-parenting challenges, and it is vital to provide them with the guidance and support they need to navigate these issues successfully.
The upcoming training session will address conflict resolution skills, mediation techniques, and the creation of a parenting plan. The training will put a spotlight on the challenges that unmarried parents face.
The Zoom training will be classroom information, breakout sessions for role plays, small group sessions, demonstrations, and discussions.
The training aims to equip volunteers with the necessary tools and knowledge to become volunteer mediators, facilitating constructive dialogue and supporting parents in creating effective co-parenting plans.

Description
Mediation is a way of helping people settle their differences peacefully. Mediators do not take sides or make decisions, but do help people solve problems in ways that are decided and agreed upon by all involved parties. Each participant is given an equal chance to state his or her point of view in a safe, neutral and private setting. The role of the mediator is that of a facilitator. Mediators create an atmosphere of equality and respect for all participants.
Mediators are community volunteers who have completed 24-30 hours of classroom training and an internship with an experienced mediator or staff
