Girls Inc. at YWCA Minneapolis

Girls Inc. at YWCA Minneapolis is partnering with St. Thomas University and 360 Journalism to offer a College Essay Writing Boot camp. Volunteers will be paired with a small group of students to start and complete a polished, adaptable college essay in one week. This boot camp is a great way to mentor a young woman in our Girls Inc. programs and share more about your love for writing. Some students have used their essays to gain admissions into colleges like the University of St. Thomas, Loyola, and New York University and earned thousands of dollars in scholarships.
Date: June 19, 20, and 21 st Time: Three 2 hour sessions (9:15- 11:15 AM) at St. Thomas University + four total hours of essay review/essay editing from home> Aprox. 10 hours total Location: St Thomas University, St. Paul Purpose: Support 1-2 Girls Inc. students in the college writing process. Ask: individuals work in fields that pertain to: communications, education, journalism or have a passion for writing Optional Date: College Essay Boot Camp Celebration with students, writing coaches, parents and staff: 12 - 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 22 @ University of St. Thomas in St. Paul
