The West End Museum, which is run entirely by volunteers, is seeking the assistance of a professional or advanced amateur videographer and editor to occasionally film and edit interviews with former West Enders as well as inventory/organize existing and new videos. The videos will be used in the Museum’s social media and archived in its permanent collection.
Requirements:
- Be available to shoot videos as needed, including occasional nights and weekends
- Have access to and knowledge of video editing software and a willingness to edit for different purposes and run times, includes an ability to identify the most compelling content
- Have knowledge of uploading video to YouTube and/or transferring video files to other volunteer staff
- Be able to turn around a video within a week of shooting or in another requested time frame
- Be respectful, courteous and comfortable serving as an interviewer (with a provided script/list of questions)
Commitment:
Most of the videotaping will be done at the Museum (North Station area). There may be rare requests for other locations. You need to be available once a month for marketing committee meetings, some of which are conducted at the Museum, some via conference call. You’ll need to be able to commit approximately 3-5 hours per month.

About the West End Museum:
We are a Boston neighborhood museum seeking volunteers interested in the history and culture of the City of Boston, its immigrant era, and urban renewal. The Museum is a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit organization dedicated to the collection, preservation, and interpretation of the history and culture of the West End of Boston.
You can expect to find a casual workplace of friendly Volunteers and Staff who are welcoming and eager to engage with the public. A previous knowledge of the neighborhood is not required, but an appreciation of its historical significance is helpful.
The Museum is conveniently located close to the MBTA Science Park/West End Station and North Station. Bowdoin Station is about a 10-minute walk.
