The Summer Transitional Shelter Program is designed to foster self-sufficiency for clients that are on an employment or educational track with a combination of short-term shelter and supportive services in order to rapidly re-house individuals who are homeless in west suburban Cook County. Clients are able to stay a in a warm, safe place two weeks at a time as they rotate throughout our 7 shelter locations. Looking for volunteer opportunities over the summer? Know a group that might be interested in service days? Housing Forward is in need of individuals and/or groups to help support our Transitional Shelter program, May 28 th - September 3 rd. As we rotate shelter sites, volunteers are needed to assist with move in as well as moving out of supplies/materials to support our clients that will be staying in shelter.
Volunteers are needed for the following moving days highlighted below:
Fair Oaks Shelter 744 Fair Oaks Ave., Oak Park Move In: Wed, May 23 rd 10am - 1pm Move Out: Mon, June 11 th 10am - 1pm
St. Christophers Shelter 545 S. East Ave., Oak Park Move In: Mon, June 11 th 10am - 1pm Move Out: Mon,June 25 th 10am - 1pm
United Lutheran 409 Greenfield Street, Oak Park Move In: Mon, June 25 th 10am - 1pm Move out: Mon, July 9 th 10am - 1pm
St. Giles 1045 Columbian Ave, Oak Park Move In: Mon, July 9 th 10am - 1pm Move Out: Mon, July 23 rd 10am - 1pm
