Join us for a fun day at the Lullalee Literacy Fair - sponsored by the Lullalee Foundation. The Literacy Fair is part of The Salvation Army San Francisco Ray & Joan Kroc Community Center 10 year anniversary celebrations.

This fun event together community literary resources such as the San Francisco Public Library, Book Mobile, Green Apple Books, Children's Book Project, SPCA Puppy Dog Tales, 826 Valencia and The Salvation Army Summer camps.

Fair activities include:
* Book Giveaway for children of all ages!
* Reading Red Carpet
* Magicians
* Puppeteers
* Costumed Characters
* Arts & Crafts
* Face Painting
* Carnival Games
* Healthy Snacks for guests! (DCYF Nutrition compliant!)

Volunteer shifts are 3 hours in length. Minimum age is 13 years (supervised by an adult). Volunteers may be asked to assist with set-up/ tear-down, event decoration, arts and crafts, carnival games, snacks and/or crowd control.

Shift times are

  • 9am - 12 noon (set-up and decorating) - 20 volunteers needed;
  • 11:30am - 2:30pm (set-up and Literacy Fair) - 30 volunteers needed;
  • 2pm - 5pm (Literacy Fair and tear-down) - 30 volunteers needed)

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 13
  • Orientation or Training
  • 3 hour - 3.5 hours
  • Some lifting required. Standing. Good with kids, Volunteers under 16 must be supervised.
