ORGANIZATION: Cook Play Live

We need a highly organized, self-motivated, and outgoing volunteer to help us prepare and deliver Cook Play Live’s Sprout Healthy Cooking and Nutrition program for 25 middle-schoolers on

July 11, 18, 25 and Aug 1 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am
and July 9 and 23 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm

Where possible, we ask that you commit to multiple sessions as familiarity improves the experience for both volunteers and workshop participants.

You will:

  • Engage with and direct middle schoolers in various activities including meal preparation and nutrition discussions
  • Work as a team with educators to prepare for and implement interactive cooking and healthy eating activities following a provided curriculum
  • Set up food preparation and cooking equipment, supplies, and educational materials
  • Maintain food safety, including cleaning and sanitation of all cooking equipment used in cooking activities

Our ideal volunteer has:

  • Basic knife skills and ability to execute basic cooking techniques
  • Awareness of healthy eating and basic nutrition knowledge
  • Dynamic personality and excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and carrying heavy and bulky items
  • Experience working with young children (aged 10-13 years) in a group setting is a plus!

We are an organization that helps children grades 3-12 understand and adopt healthier lifestyles. Through interactive out-of-school-time cooking sessions, games and activities, we introduce nutrition concepts and healtheir eating habits.
