United Way Day of Action is an invitation for people and organizations in our community to LIVE UNITED and take action to address a variety of challenges. It is a day that we ask you to help us put our mission into action by volunteering to improve the building blocks for a good quality of life - education, financial stability, and health.

Lake Area United Way will have the first annual Day of Action on June 26, 2018. This year’s Day of Action will focus on Senior Health and Safety. LAUW will be recruiting volunteers to work on minor home repair projects on the Day of Action and beyond. OG&E will sponsor the Day of Action and will use the Silver Energy Program to provide an energy efficiency survey of the home and make the appropriate weatherization improvements. (Some components of this program are income based.)

Eligible repairs include, but are not limited to, minor electrical and plumbing problems, weatherization, including installing energy efficient light bulbs and sealing air leaks around the windows and doors, mobility accessibility concerns such as building ramps or installing accessibility bars in bathrooms. Some yard cleanup and tree removal may be considered.

Mission Statement

Lake Area United Way Mission: Mobilizing resources to advance the economic well-being, education, and health of our community.

Description

Lake Area United Way fights for the education, financial stability, and health of everyone in our community. Here is the impact we have made in Muskogee and Cherokee Counties.

Everyone deserves opportunities to have a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and with good health.

That’s why United Way’s work is focused on the building blocks for a good life:

Education - Helping Children and Youth Achieve Their Potential
Income - Promoting Financial Stability and Independence
Health - Improving People’s Health

Advancing the common good is less about helping one person at a time and more about changing systems to help all of us. We are all connected and interdependent. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable, when people are healthy.

United Way’s goal is to create long-lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of these problems. Living united means being a part of the change. It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future. Give. Advocate. Volunteer. LIVE UNITED.
