We have a wonderful and fun volunteer opportunity for volunteers to help at our upcoming fundraiser, "Barley, BBQ, & Beats." This event is a showcase of great drinks, great food, and great live music from local Michigan vendors and performers. Attendees and volunteers will get to partake in samples of BBQ cuisine as well as whiskey samples, while hearing some great live bands. Proceeds will support Hospice of Michigan's Open Access Fund, which provides end-of-life care to patients regardless of age, diagnosis or ability to pay. To find out more about who our food and drink vendors are, visit us at https://www.hom.org/bbb2018/. You can also check out the event on Facebook, at https://www.facebook.com/events/328248184344175/.
We expect hundreds of attendees, and to pull off an event of such size, we will need approximately 25 volunteers. Because this event does not involve confidential patient information, you are invited to bring a volunteer! Please keep in mind the following requirements: Volunteers must be age 21 and up and comfortable in an environment with alcohol, and volunteers should wear comfortable shoes and clothes (a T-shirt will be provided at the event) and be able to stand long periods of time and be able to walk longer distances around the large showroom space, w/ concrete floors. Please also note that if you and a friend or spouse both sign up to volunteer, we can’t guarantee that you will be stationed on the same assignment or that your breaks will be at the same time.
There are several volunteer assignments, including registration, ticket taking, hand stamping, refilling ice and other vendor supplies, handing out coffee, water, and pop, selling additional food and drink tokens, distributing T-shirts, assisting at our Memorial Wall, and more. Attire is casual (jeans ok), w/ comfortable shoes. Volunteers are asked to stay for the entire event, and will be supervised and receive instructions from several HOM staff members, who will be available to answer questions throughout the event. Each volunteer will get a one hour break to participate in the event and get food and drink samples for FREE. When you sign up, please indicate your first and last name, T-shirt size, email address, and cell phone #.
