ORGANIZATION: United Way of Northern New Jersey

UWNNJ WLC

Women United (formerly United Way Women’s Leadership Council) raises the voice and vision of women leaders to fight for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community. This diverse, vibrant community of philanthropic women is bound together, united by our dedication to improving the communities we call home.

Our northern New Jersey group is proudly part of a powerful, global network of over 70,000 women from 165 communities and six countries, all devoted to creating a legacy of change that benefits everyone. This powerhouse network of change makers has already invested more than $1.5 billion in local solutions around the world, while inspiring and empowering women through philanthropy, advocacy, and volunteerism.

When you join Women United, you share your passion for philanthropy with like-minded women while changing the course for local families in need. We welcome women of all ages and backgrounds who want to improve lives for struggling families in our area.

We come together throughout the year to enjoy a full calendar of events:

  • Powerful networking events
  • Signature fundraising events, including a golf outing exclusively for women
  • Hands-on volunteer opportunities
  • Inspiring educational and professional development programs
  • Opportunities to build lasting professional and personal relationships
There are ample opportunities to get deeper involved in Women United. Please email Michele Dreiblatt or call 973.993.1160, x128 if you are interested in learning more about leadership opportunities.

Mission Statement

United Way mobilizes the caring power of communities to advance the common good. We improve lives and community conditions by assessing needs, developing solutions, raising funds, convening partners, and mobilizing citizens to act.

Description

We believe that improving life for all starts with improving life for ALICE.

ALICE is...

An acronym: ALICE represents the growing number of families who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. Despite working - oftentimes at more than one job - these households are unable to afford the basics of housing, food, child care, health care, technology, and transportation.

When ALICE suffers and is forced to make difficult choices, we all face serious consequences. United Way is fighting for ALICE - a population that is critical to the stability of our communities. We are looking beyond temporary fixes to find solutions that result in long-term, sustainable change for individuals and families.
