Spanish Literacy Program
This opportunity is for a volunteer teacher position in Alfalit's Spanish Literacy Program. This program is for adults who are illiterate in their own native language (Spanish).
At this moment we are looking for teachers at Homestead, an area with high demand and a large Hispanic population.
We are already offering classes at RCMA Homestead and we will open another class at Le Jardin Community Centers in Homestead as well.
The literacy program has 3 different levels and each should last between 2 to 3 months.
Classes are twice per week, 2 hours per class during the evening and weekdays.
They are usually from 6:00 pm or 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm
We are seeking volunteers that can commit to at least 13 weeks for this program.
All volunteers must attend a teacher training before the start of the semester. The location will be determined at a later date. This training is provided free of charge to volunteer teachers who are new to the program and those who would like a refresher. All training materials and classroom instruction manuals will be provided free of charge at the start of literacy classes. Lunch and refreshments will be provided during training.

Esta oportunidad es para la posición de maestros voluntarios en el Programa de Alfabetización en Español de Alfalit. Este programa es para adultos analfabetos en su propia lengua materna (español).
En este momento estamos buscando maestros en Homestead, ya que esta área tiene una población hispana con grandes necesidades.
Ya estamos ofreciendo clases en RCMA Homestead y abriremos otra clase también en Le Jardin Community Centers en Homestead.
El programa de alfabetización tiene 3 niveles diferentes y cada uno debe durar entre 2 y 3 meses.
Las clases son dos veces por semana, 2 horas por clase durante la noche y los días de semana.
Por lo general, son desde las 6:00 pm o las 6:30 pm hasta las 8:00 pm
Estamos buscando voluntarios que puedan comprometerse por lo menos 13 semanas para este programa.
Se determinará la ubicación del entrenamiento de profesores para nuestro programa de alfabetización en español. Esta capacitación se brinda de forma gratuita a maestros voluntarios que son nuevos en el programa y a aquellos que desean un módulo de actualización. Todos los materiales de capacitación y manuales de instrucción en el aula se proporcionarán de forma gratuita al comienzo de las clases de alfabetización. Almuerzo y refrescos serán proporcionados durante el entrenamiento.

Alfalit International, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization registered in the State of Florida. Founded in 1961, we change lives through literacy, basic education, early childhood development, job skills, and conversational English in Central & South America, the Caribbean, Africa, Portugal, and the United States of America where we focus on the literacy and conversational English needs of adult immigrants. The majority of our students are adults but we also reach out to youth and preschoolers when funding allows us to do so. All of our students are poor and many live in the remotest of areas. Our classes are taught in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Haitian-Creole as well as some indigenous languages. While faith-based, Alfalit welcomes all religious affiliations (or none at all) to join our classes as students and teachers.
