Our volunteers work as companions to those in need who may live alone, with a caregiver, or in a nursing home. The volunteer will provide companionship, transportation to doctor appointments, help running errands, and/or assistance with correspondence and simple household chores. We'll try to set you up with a regular client on a regular schedule, and scheduling is very flexible.

We promote self-sufficiency, quality of life, and the highest level of independence for older adults and individuals with disabilities in the Durham and Chapel Hill, North Carolina area.
Description
A Helping Hand is unique in both structure and approach. Wholly independent and locally-founded, we are the only non-profit companion care provider in Durham, Orange and northern Chatham Counties.
Companion care provides friendship, socialization and transportation to seniors and adults with disabilities who would otherwise be isolated. Our tailored, person-centered care and companion matching process ensures we can provide compatible matches and meaningful interactions for both our volunteers and our clients of all income levels.
